Dr. Ardis Hanson joined the Shimberg Library family on August 1st as the Assistant Director for Reference and Education. Ardis holds a Master’s Degree in Library Science and a Doctorate in Communication from the University of South Florida. She is the former Director of the Louis de la Parte Florida Mental Health Institute Research Library and until recently was administrative staff in the College of Behavioral and Community Sciences Dean’s Office.
Ardis is a Past-President of the Association of Caribbean University, Research, and Institutional Libraries (ACURIL), and also Past-President of the Association of Mental Health Librarians. She currently chairs ACURIL’s Evidence-based Practices in Health Roundtable. A prolific writer, Ardis has authored 11 refereed journal publications, 43 book chapters, and 11 encyclopedia articles. She is passionate about libraries, discourse analysis, and health policy. She is very excited about becoming part of the USF Shimberg Health Sciences Library and the opportunity to work with USF Health’s research, clinical, and administrative staff.
